Stimpod Nerve Stimulation

What is Stimpod Nerve Stimulation?

Stimpod is a pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) nerve stimulation device. It delivers precise electrical pulses to a targeted peripheral nerve, modulating pain signals and stimulating nerve repair without causing damage to the nerve tissue.

The treatment works by applying a probe to the skin over or near the affected nerve. The pulsed radiofrequency signal penetrates the tissue and interacts with the nerve, reducing the sensitivity of pain-transmitting fibres and promoting nerve regeneration. Unlike continuous radiofrequency ablation — which destroys nerve tissue — Stimpod’s pulsed delivery is non-destructive and reversible.

Sessions last approximately 20–30 minutes and are generally well-tolerated. Patients often describe a mild tingling or warm sensation at the treatment site. Stimpod is particularly effective for nerve conditions where the nerve is intact but hypersensitive or poorly functioning — which includes the majority of cases of sciatica, cervical radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome and post-surgical nerve sensitivity.

Clinical evidence

What does the evidence say?

Pulsed radiofrequency stimulation has a growing evidence base for peripheral nerve conditions. Clinical studies show significant pain reduction and functional improvement in conditions including chronic sciatic nerve pain, cervical radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome and post-surgical neuropathic pain.

Stimpod is a newer application of pulsed radiofrequency technology that enables non-invasive peripheral nerve stimulation — previously this required a needle injection near the nerve. The non-invasive delivery makes it accessible as a clinic-based treatment without the risk or patient anxiety associated with injection-based procedures.
