EMTT therapy in Warrington — deep tissue regeneration for chronic pain
If any of these sound familiar, EMTT may be the treatment that finally makes the difference:
- Knee or hip osteoarthritis that limits activity
- Chronic tendon conditions that haven’t responded to other treatments
- Post-surgical recovery that is progressing more slowly than expected
- Nerve-related pain or chronic inflammation
What is EMTT?
EMTT stands for Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy. It uses high-energy pulsed magnetic fields — significantly more powerful than standard PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) devices — to penetrate deep into tissue and stimulate cellular repair processes at a level that most treatments cannot reach.
The magnetic pulses are delivered through a large coil held close to the skin over the treatment area. You feel a gentle tapping or vibration sensation. There is no discomfort, no needles and no recovery time required. Sessions typically last 6–12 minutes, and EMTT is usually delivered as a course of 4–6 sessions.
At a cellular level, EMTT stimulates ATP production (the energy currency of cells), activates anti-inflammatory pathways and promotes the regeneration of cartilage, tendon and bone tissue. This makes it particularly effective for degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis, where the goal is not just pain relief but actual tissue health improvement.

What does EMTT involve?
01
A brief assessment to confirm EMTT is appropriate for your condition
02
You remain fully clothed — the coil is placed over or near the affected area
03
A gentle tapping or vibration sensation during treatment — most patients find it comfortable
04
Sessions last 6–12 minutes per treatment area
05
No recovery time required — you can continue normal activities immediately
06
Typically 4–6 sessions, often combined with physiotherapy or shockwave
What does the evidence say?
EMTT is a relatively recent technology and the clinical evidence base is growing rapidly. Studies to date show significant results for knee osteoarthritis, with patients experiencing meaningful reductions in pain and improvements in function. Research into tendon conditions, post-surgical recovery and nerve pain is also showing promising outcomes.
EMTT is distinct from older PEMF technology in the energy levels it delivers — it operates at magnetic field intensities many times higher than standard PEMF devices, which is what enables the deep tissue penetration and cellular effects. It is available at very few clinics in the Warrington area.
Conditions EMTT is used for

Chronic back and neck pain
Hip osteoarthritis
Nerve-related conditions and neuropathic pain
Chronic tendinopathies — Achilles, rotator cuff, patellar, hamstring
